Following an excellent response to requests for expressions of interest in 2019, UKAS is steadily moving forwards with its project to implement accreditation to BS ISO 20387:2018.
We have held two successful webinars for interested parties, the content of which is now available.
We have also held our inaugural meeting of the Biobanking Accreditation Steering Group with a great attendance and enthusiasm shown for the project. Membership is varied across the sector and will provide a great insight into Biobanks as the project progresses.
The next steps are to continue with the Steering Group and to hold an event (most likely web based) for those who have expressed an interest in becoming a pilot site with a view to commencing pilot assessments later in 2020.
