Following on from the November announcement made by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) that it was introducing legislation to continue recognition of the CE marking and reversed epsilon marking until 31 December 2024 for most goods being placed on the GB market, the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has now confirmed that it shall be following suit with respect to construction products.
DLUHC has now stated its intention to end recognition of the CE mark in GB on 30 June 2025. Current rules, which allow for continued recognition of the CE mark, will remain in place until legislation is laid to end recognition of the CE mark. This announcement provides clarity on the deadline for CE Marking recognition, with previous confusion over whether this was due to come into effect at the end 0f 2022.
Guidance providing practical information for placing construction products on the GB market can be found on the GOV.UK website.
