UKAS is pleased to announce that Make UK, the manufacturers’ organisation, has become the latest UKAS member.
As a company limited by guarantee, UKAS is governed by its members rather than shareholders, and these organisations are drawn from a range of stakeholders including government departments, business, professional institutes and customer groups, all with an interest in quality and accreditation. Make UK takes the total number of UKAS members to 22.
Make UK champions and celebrates British manufacturing and manufacturers, stimulating and inspiring this agile and important sector.
UKAS CEO, Matt Gantley, commented on Make UK’s appointment as the latest UKAS member:
“With an estimated three million people engaged in the manufacturing sector in what is one of the world’s biggest manufacturing nations, the work carried out by Make UK is vitally important in supporting innovation and leading the way in developing skills and driving competitive advantage for the UK.
We welcome Make UK as our newest UKAS member and look forward to collaborating and learning from each other as we further explore the opportunities accreditation has to drive quality and competence in the manufacturing sector, as well as further supporting global trade.”
Ben Fletcher, Chief Operating Officer of Make UK commented on the appointment:
“UKAS is recognised in over 100 countries around the globe and Membership will bring greater proximity to future trends in the certification process for Goods and processes. We will be able to share this knowledge with our members, demonstrating the benefits of accredited certification and the international strengths of UK based certification.
In turn, this will help and encourage trade and exporting potential, boosting trade opportunities.”
