At the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) General Assembly held on 22nd October it was confirmed that Lorraine Turner, UKAS Technical Director, had been voted as the new Chair of the ILAC Inspection Committee, taking over from Arne Lund from SWEDAC (Sweden) who is standing down at the end of 2020.
The Inspection Committee is an important forum for global cooperation between parties with an interest in accredited inspection activities, from Accreditation Bodies to Inspection Bodies to Regulators and end-users. Commenting on her appointment, Lorraine said “I am very excited to take up this role and to build upon the progress Arne and the committee members have achieved. My focus is to ensure that global accreditation of inspection bodies keeps pace with the changing needs of the inspection sector”.
In addition to her role in the Inspection Committee, this post also provides Lorraine with a seat on the ILAC and Joint ILAC/IAF Executive Committees where she will help to shape the future direction of accreditation, building on the experiences and opportunities that the accreditation and conformity assessment industries have developed during the current coronavirus pandemic.
