Certification bodies (CBs), accredited by UKAS, have the opportunity to use the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) MLA Mark on the certificates they issue. CBs are entitled to use the mark on their certificates in association with an IAF MLA sub-scope. Use of the MLA Mark by CBs is encouraged and not a mandatory requirement, provided they have signed the IAF MLA License Agreement with UKAS. CBs, who have been sublicensed and use the Combined MLA Mark on their certificates, are able to promote their accreditation as being internationally recognised.
Following the revision of IAF ML 2:2016 General Principles on the Use of the IAF MLA Mark earlier this month, a ‘new license agreement’ has been published. One of the main changes in the agreement is that Product Certification Bodies are now able to use the IAF MLA Mark for product certification schemes or product standards endorsed by the IAF.
If you wish to use the Mark, you can do so by signing and returning the agreement.
Further details can be found on the UKAS website (How to use the IAF MLA Mark) and also in IAF Publication ML2. If you have any queries about the use of the Mark, please email [email protected].
