UKAS CEO, Matt Gantley introduces our refreshed Purpose, Vision, Mission and Values:
UKAS Strategy sets out how we will ensure that the UK has a world leading National Accreditation Service that is fit for purpose in the 21st Century. Our Purpose, Vision, Mission and Values describe how we collectively work and behave, setting out our expectations of each other and ourselves. Our Strategic Priorities identify what we must focus on to fulfil our Purpose and achieve our Vision.
- How we behave and treat our customers, stakeholders and each other;
- The people we recruit;
- How we measure and reward success;
- Our attitude towards and management of risks;
- Where and how we invest;
- What we should expect from ourselves and our colleagues.
For a company to succeed and be truly great, it needs to employ not just excellent people, but excellent people with a common cause and common core values. Our Purpose, Vision, Mission and Values describe our common cause and our core common values.
Purpose
Our Purpose sets out what our reason for being is, why there is a United Kingdom Accreditation Service and what we are collectively working for. Our Purpose is:
- UKAS delivers the UK’s National Accreditation Service.
We underpin the UK and global quality infrastructure with our independence and expertise, creating trust and confidence in the products and services we all rely upon.
Our purpose clearly identifies that UKAS is here to make sure everyone can rely on products and services to be safe, fit for purpose and to meet expected standards. Through the activities we perform we make this possible and make the world a safer place.
Vision
Supporting our Purpose is our Vision which sets out where UKAS wants to be in the future. This future goal drives us to continually improve, change and adapt.
Our Vision is:
- To be the world’s foremost accreditation body, recognised and respected for the development and delivery of accreditation services for the benefit of society now and in the future.
Our Vision recognises our responsibility to society, it also recognises that this responsibility means that accreditation cannot stand still. What society needs trust and confidence in today may not be the same in the future. We need to be constantly vigilant to ensure accreditation remains fit for purpose and that we continue to serve society.
Mission
Our Mission outlines how UKAS will work day-to-day to enable us to meet our Purpose and achieve our Vision, guiding us on what is important to focus on.
Our Mission is:
- Working alongside our customers and in collaboration with UK Government and key stakeholders, our mission is to build a world of trust and confidence in the products and services accreditation underpins.
Providing trust and confidence in products and services is not something we can achieve alone, and our Mission statement acknowledges this. We will fulfil our Purpose and achieve our Vision by working collaboratively, not in isolation.
Ethos
In support of our Purpose, Vision and Mission UKAS has defined our Ethos. Our Ethos forms a bridge between our Purpose, Vision and Mission to our day-to-day activities. Describing many aspects of how UKAS works both collectively and as individuals, what is important to us and what we believe in.
Strategic Priorities
Our Strategic Priorities provide focus for UKAS as a business to ensure that as well as developing and improving our services we continue to do everything necessary to fulfil our Purpose and achieve our Vision. From these Strategic Priorities our Strategic Objectives are developed, providing direction at a team and individual level. Our Strategic Priorities are:
PRIDE Values
Put simply, our company values of Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence underpin UKAS and all that we do. The values provide guiding principles on how we go about our work and how we treat each other and our customers, setting the foundation for the UKAS of the future.
We believe that our Purpose, Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Priorities firmly enable UKAS to be a leading accreditation body in the 21st Century, providing the best possible national accreditation service for the UK. Our strategy is strong enough to support us in responding to the challenges and opportunities that come our way, and flexible enough to enable us to maintain our agility and our integrity.
