Senior Assessment Manager

Background:

John started his career in a private scientific consultancy and spent many years working on the technical side and in management within NHS laboratories. John worked for Clinical Pathology Accreditation (UK) Ltd for a number of years before joining UKAS in 2013.

His career journey through biomedical science into quality management and the accreditation of medical laboratories has seen many changes, all of which have driven the quality and improvement of processes for hospital laboratories.

Experience:

John manages other AMs and is active in various projects, including ISO Standards training, UKAS commercial course training and internal training for new AMs. He also leads on promoting, marketing and communications for the Healthcare Section.

During John’s professional career and in his many outside interests and activities, John has always developed his interest in teaching, training and biomedical science promotion and career development and been active in education and development of scientific and support staff.

When not working:

John has a passion for all things ‘trains, planes, automobiles and motorcycles’ and can sometimes be found at heritage railways or practising advanced driving techniques both in cars, or on one of his motorcycles. He also has a lapsed private pilot’s licence (spiralling costs have curtailed that activity at present).
