Following on from a very successful first Phase, we have now agreed with SSIP to extend the duty holder categories noted on the Accreditation Schedule in order to include Republic of Ireland Duty Holder Categories:
SSIP Approved: IE
SSIP Approved: IE Contractor
SSIP Approved: IE Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP)
SSIP Approved: IE Designer
SSIP Approved: IE Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS)
However, we are not able to just allocate these additional categories to the CAB Schedule of Accreditation as there are differences in legislation within ROI (primarily Safety, Health and Welfare Act 2005 and the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013), the same Core Criteria is applied however there is different terminology and local requirements i.e. safety statement not H&S policy, site safety representative for construction sites with over 20 employees on site. As a result, CABs that would like to have this added to their Accreditation Schedules will now be able to apply for this as part of a Scope Extension.
The scope extension will require as a minimum a desktop assessment, it is not anticipated that a witness assessment will be required. The assessment can also be completed alongside the annual Head Office assessment, should this be preferred. However, the CAB will still need to apply for a scope extension as it will require approval from a competent UKAS decision maker; also, additional effort will apply as it will impact on the already approved assessment time.
Should you require further clarification on the above, please contact your Assessment Manager, Leanie Du Toit UKAS Technical Focus Person for SSIP – [email protected] or David Hayward: Development Manager – [email protected]
