The Royal College of Radiologists and the College of Radiographers have undertaken a rigorous review of the QSI standard, including consultation with professional, regulatory, and lay representatives. They formally launched the revised QSI standard, QSI 2021 in October 2021.
Following the publication of the standard all currently accredited CABs (Conformity Assessment Body – the legal entity of the Imaging service) will need to demonstrate compliance with the new standard by 1st April 2024. All CABs are strongly encouraged to have the transition assessment to the new standard during their next planned assessment. It is expected that all transition assessments will have been carried out by the end of November 2023 to allow sufficient time for the transition process to be fully completed by the deadline of 1st April 2024.
To aid the transition assessment a gap analysis demonstrating that the CAB has understood the changes from the 2019 standard to the 2021 standard will need to be completed and provided to UKAS prior to the site / remote assessment that will be performed. This process has been explained through recent webinars and recordings sent to accredited CABs. If you require further information or clarification, then please contact [email protected] or your Assessment Manager.
For any new applicants that require accreditation to quality standards for imaging, from June 2022, assessments will only be to the 2021 version of the standard. If you need any further information as a new applicant, please contact [email protected]
